Second Chancer Foundation | Charlottesville, VA

Each year in America more than 600,000 people are released from state and federal prison. Millions serve shorter periods in local jails. After release, they return to incarceration at one of the highest rates in the world. Periods of incarceration do little to address the issues and unmet needs that often lead people to prison in the first place and often add further trauma. We seek to humanize the experience of reentry and drive both awareness and resources toward the process.

 

Descendants of Enslaved Communities at UVA | Charlottesville, VA

The Descendants of Enslaved Communities at UVA will serve as the collective voice of all descendants of enslaved and free Black communities who labored at the University of Virginia through research, education, and preservation.

Equal Justice USA Evangelical Network | Charlottesville, VA*

The EJUSA Evangelical Network promotes a justice system centered on redemption and healing. It is a national organization working to transform the justice system by promoting responses to violence that break cycles of trauma.

Interfaith Action for Human Rights | Washington, DC

IAHR represents people of faith who educate and advocate in Maryland, DC and Virginia for corrections systems that avoid unnecessarily punitive practices such as solitary confinement and that instead focus on rehabilitation and successful reentry.
