Our FIRST FALL 2023 Faith & Work lunch with be on Thursday, October 12th, 12:30-1:30pm WITH gina maio, interviewed by PERKINS Fellow, lanie moore. In person only

Gina Maio* (pronouned May-oh) and her husband of 30 years, Matt, live in the City of Richmond, but they met and graduated from Virginia Tech. They are blessed with two wonderful children: a son who is a civilian mechanical engineer with the Navy and a daughter who is an intern at Theological Horizons.

Cultivating conversations has been a vital part of Gina’s professional and personal journey. For 20 years she served high school students, first as an international marketing teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools and then as Head of School of Church Hill Academy, a private faith-based high school serving students in the East End of Richmond. Conversing with students and their parents was rarely boring.

She has also been active in her faith communities, growing in a wide variety of volunteer roles until becoming an ordained minister in 2011. Church community has always been a place of laughter, love and leadership.

Gina currently serves in the most fulfilling role of her professional journey: as a Hospice Chaplain. The most important thing she does every day is listen with her heart, soul and mind, cultivating conversations to help patients and their families prepare for death.
